Places and Opportunities for withdrawal and retreat

 A number of places, including some Anglican parishes within the Diocese, offer opportunities for withdrawal and retreat for prayer and reflection, for both individuals and groups. 

 

 

The Community of the Holy Name

The Community of the Holy Name is a community of Anglican sisters located in Cheltenham. The community provides a ministry of hospitality for individual retreat. 

 

The House of Prayer

The St James House of Prayer is a ministry of the parish of Queenscliff and Point Lonsdale and is available to  people who wish to spend intentional time on their spiritual journey. Times of retreat and withdrawal of 1-4 nights are possible. Contact the parish directly for further details. 

 

St Julian's Retreat & Spirituality Centre

The Community of the Holy Name provide a place for individual retreat in Cheltenham.

 

Resurrection Retreat Centre

The parish of Gisborne host the Resurrection Retreat Centre, located at The Church of the Resurrection Macedon Ranges (Mt Macedon). Clergy are welcome to stay in the self-contained part of the vicarage. There are two bedrooms and an oratory with living area and small kitchenette. Cost is by donation.

 

The Living Well Centre

 The Living Well Centre, based at St George’s Malvern, run regular seminars, quiet days and retreats.

 

Camperdown Abbey

The Anglican Benedictine monastery at Camperdown offers a ministry of hospitality to individuals and groups. The Abbey seeks to be a place for all people where they can come for refreshment, prayer and recovery of hope. Cost is by a suggested donation.

 

Ministry Renewal Retreats

Ministry Renewal retreats seek to foster personal growth and spiritual nourishment for lay and ordained persons in Christian ministry. Groups are ecumenical, and consist of 8-10 men or women, who committ to meet for a number of retreats led by a qualified facilitator over a two year cycle. 

 

The Campion Centre for Ignatian Spirituality

The Campion Centre, located in Kew, offers a range of opportunities for prayer, withdrawal, and retreat, throughout the year.

 

Tarrawarra Abbey

Tarrawarra Abbey, in the Yarra Valley, offers hospitality to those who desire to join the Cistercian community for prayer, or for a few days' retreat, and to visitors who wish to taste for themselves something of the peace of the sacred place and to experience the healing rhythm of time spent in the beauty of nature and punctuated by the Hours of the monastic liturgy.

 

Pallotti College

Located in the foothills of Mt Donna Buang, Pallotti College has for many years been a place for people to find balance in their busy lives, to “come away for a while” and find peace and rest with God. As a centre for retreats, conferences and holidays Pallotti, offers a wide range of possibilities, with guests including individuals, church and parish groups, guided retreats, school retreats, staff in-service, families, respite time for carers, meditation and special interest groups.

 

Heart of Life Spirituality Centre

Heart of Life began in 1983 as an initiative of the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart, and offers a place of withdrawal and retreat, set in Shoreham on the Mornington Peninsula.
